Workshop Overview

Do you know how to make sure you don’t miss anything when running an investigation and find out what really happened?

This one day workshop covers the legislation and process around dealing with an investigation as well as how to use investigative interviewing techniques to find out what really happened.

Investigative Interviewing techniques are used by the Police to investigate a crime. This is based on the PEACE model, which is the most advanced, non-coercive investigate technique in the world. The skills around investigative interviewing are essential for HR professionals when dealing with difficult issues like complaints about bullying, harassment, fraud or serious misconduct. This workshop will take you through the methods and provide a chance for you to try out the techniques on a real case study.

You’ll leave the session with:

Knowledge of the legislative and HR processes around investigations
An in depth understanding of the different stages of planning and running an investigation
Experience analysing a case study and trying out the techniques on what you would investigate

During the workshop you’ll be provided with a comprehensive workbook which includes information about the legislation and processes, as well as case studies and room for you to work through the investigation plan and outcomes.

You’ll be provided with morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.

Facilitators

All of the Elephant team are HR experts who have attended mediation many times. They are all engaging facilitators who will share their experience and knowledge with you and answer any questions you have.

Aaron McIntosh has over 20 years experience in HR, L&D, Capability, Health & Safety and management roles with extensive experience developing Health and Safety procedures. He has worked with companies as diverse as McDonalds, MBIE, Fastway Couriers, Craggy Range and ESITO. He joined Elephant in 2015.

Nikki Peck has over 19 years of generalist HR experience working in diverse sectors such as health, engineering, utilities, retail and not-for-profit. Nikki has a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resources from The University of Auckland and joined Elephant in 2012 as an HR Consultant and facilitator.

Fraser Atkins: Fraser is the CEO and a co-founder of Elephant. His specialty areas are business strategy, performance KPI’s, Investigative Interviewing and Mediation. He trains and has presented internationally on these areas.
